Spiritual formation is the process of becoming more like Jesus and is essential to the mission of God in and through His people.
The pattern of spiritual formation is Jesus. We become His disciples (life-students) as we learn to live with and like Him.
The power of spiritual formation is the Holy Spirit. If we want to become more like Jesus, we must invite the Holy Spirit to be the guiding influence of our entire lives.
We are the fourth person involved in spiritual formation. While we are all the same, not all of us are alike and each one of us is unique. In order to become more like Jesus, we have to understand what it means to be us.
Spiritual maturity is the character of God becoming true of us for the sake of the world. The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) reminds us who God is and who He is shaping us to be.
Spiritual growth is the progress of spiritual formation and takes place both in stages and in seasons.
Spiritual disciplines are the way we posture ourselves before God so that He can do His work in us.
What is the role of the church in spiritual formation? What does that mean for the church as a family, the church as an institution, and what we do when we don't know what happens next?
